Intriguing textures can be created by using a hot air gun on
Koloron. It is advisable to colour the surface before heating and
this can be done with a wide range of media. The Koloron can
be heated lightly (right)
or heavily (left). Dry
brushing with a little
metallic paint
afterwards highlights
the texture and creates
more depth.

3-
Beads made from strips of Koloron rolled round a kebab stick and glued to hold in place
can be further enhanced by incising into the surface with a soldering iron. Alternatively,
heat with a hot air gun to give a different texture or wrap with fabrics and enamelled wires.
To see for yourself the many creative applications for Koloron, you can attend the
Creative Textiles InSET course run by Alison Couchman with Dragonfly Training Ltd.

Wire is best as it won’t burn away when heated. The stitching can be rough as it will barely show. The Koloron is then heated enough to shrink it to the frame giving clearly defined shapes.
